.CITAZIONEBravo's originals 'Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce' and 'Odd Mom Out': First impressions
Bravo has yet to release trailers for its first two original scripted series, "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" and "Odd Mom Out," but the network played them to advertisers and reporters gathered at the NBCU Cable upfront presentation in New York City on Thursday (May 15).
Zap2it was there, with first impressions of the new series (based on said trailers alone). Although the shows are very different -- the former is a drama that follows Lisa Edelstein's relationship self-help book author as she discovers her husband is cheating and begins the process of going through a painful split, the latter is a satire of posh Upper East Side moms in New York City -- they both speak to Bravo's tone.
"Girlfriends" is a girl-power series that praises strong female friendships, while "Odd Mom Out" takes a catty approach to skewer the rich alpha moms who make others feel bad that they don't have everything together. One's glossy and shiny for the rich "Housewives" lovers -- sort of a "Sex and the City" for divorcees -- and one feels low-budget and targets the Kathy Griffin lovers (and those who love to hate the Housewives).
